Our Supporting Arms telephone and email support service is run by bereaved parents and gives you the opportunity to talk to someone who has an understanding of what you’re going through.

We hope to bridge the gap between you receiving an Aching Arms comfort bear and finding specialist support and we’re here for you whether you lost your baby recently or some years ago. We don’t want you to have to go through your loss alone, whether you want to share memories of your baby with us or talk about how you’re feeling. You can also ask for suggestions regarding funeral arrangements, significant date anniversaries, returning to work or anything else. We are here to help so don’t hesitate to contact us by phoning or texting 07464 508994 or by emailing support@achingarms.co.uk.

Supporting Arms is a flexible call back service open to anyone in the UK.  When you call, you’ll be taken to a voicemail for you to leave your name and phone number and we’ll then contact you within 48 hours, to arrange a convenient time to talk.

Please note:

  • This is not an emergency service, if you need to speak to someone urgently please contact one of these organisations:

Supporting Arms for Dads

Sometimes Dads who have lost their baby need the opportunity to talk with other Dads who have gone through a similar experience. Aching Arms offers a monthly online group just for Dads, offering the chance to gain support and comfort from speaking to others. The group is facilitated by Tom Donaldson, a bereaved Dad and member of our Supporting Arms Team. All Dads are welcome and please note, you are free to share as much or as little as you would like.

Our Supporting Arms For Dads meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 7:30pm (excluding August and December) and to get the Microsoft Teams link for each meeting please contact dadsupport@achingarms.co.uk. We also have a telephone helpline just for dads who would like to speak 1;1 to another bereaved dad, the number for this is 07754 436133.

Our Guide for Bereaved Dads

You may have come home from the hospital with our dads guide ‘You are a dad…. You always will be’ if this is the case there are full details of all our support services for dads in the inside cover.  Take your time as you go through this book, there is no rush, it is created to be dipped in and out of as you move through the first few months following the loss of your baby.  At the moment we are only providing these guides via the hospitals who gift our bears as this is a new venture for Aching Arms, however, please keep an eye on this page for updates and when this changes we will let you know.

Virtual Care

If you would prefer to speak to us by video online, instead of by phone or text, you can book a video call via Teams, with our Bereavement Care Staff. Just use the link below to book a session for emotional support, practical ideas or just to see a friendly face who has walked a similar path to you.
