Baby Loss Awareness Week

19/09/2025

Baby Loss Awareness Week (BLAW) is an amazing opportunity to raise awareness, but we recognise that it can be a very difficult week for bereaved parents. It can feel overwhelming and widely visible from beautiful displays in local communities to your social media feeds.

It is ok to step back during this week, even take a break from social media, and find ways that are appropriate to you and your family, in order to remember your baby. Similarly, this week can be a challenge for those working in maternity bereavement.

Our support services are here for everyone. We have a phone, text, online calls and online groups available.

For those wanting to do something in memory of a special baby during BLAW 2025 we are putting on some sensitive events, there will be no expectation that you share your story, but you can come along to do something for your baby, knowing that you are surrounded by people who ‘get it’.

Online Memory Board Workshop

In this session, you will be able to create your own personalised Memory Board that can be sent as an email or shared on social media. The session will last 1 hour which includes a short presentation, guidance through the FREE version of Canva, a selection of templates to choose from & time to create your board. There are two available sessions on Thursday 25th September and Friday 26th September. Sign up here.

Miles in Memory 2025

Throughout October, in support of Baby Loss Awareness Week, we invite you to join our Miles in Memory challenge to celebrate the memory of babies who have touched your lives whilst raising money in aid of Aching Arms. Particpants will receive an Aching Arms T-shirt and you'll receive a free gift on an Aching Arms beanie, when you hit your fundraising target!

With your help, we can continue to offer comfort and support to bereaved families across the UK following the loss of their baby. Together, we will ensure that bereaved families do not face their journey alone.

Together, we will ensure that bereaved families do not face their journey alone.

Lantern Making Craft Session and Lantern Parade Event

In collaboration with our friends at the Chicken and Frog Bookshop in Brentwood, we invite you and your family to decorate lanterns with us on Saturday, 11th October, between 2 pm and 4 pm, in memory of a baby special to you.

We then invite you to join us at 5 pm back at the Chicken and Frog book shop, Crown Street, Brentwood, to light up those lanterns and take part in our very own Wave of Light Lantern parade. There is no need to sign up, just come along.

Business during BLAW

There is something for you to do – if you would like to help us support bereaved parents, your workplace can join us for Miles In Memory, which could be done as a team or a one-off event, or you can host a brew-crew coffee morning in your workplace, to bring awareness and to raise vital funds.

Alternatively, you can purchase BLAW Pins and merchandise, where every penny goes towards the work we do. To find out more about how your business can be involved, please contact helen@achingarms.co.uk

Wave of Light on 15th October at 7pm.

This year, we have a beautiful range of personalised BLAW items, including a candle especially for the Wave of Light on the 15th October.

The Wave of Light is a virtual event where you are encouraged to light a candle in memory of a baby special to you, at 7 pm. You are welcome to share your photo with us on social media if you wish. Wave of Light candles and other gifts can be purchased in our online gift shop here.

However you choose to mark Baby Loss Awareness Week, please remember we are here for you, during the week and beyond.
